Current Database Performance Issues Synergy Sol - 1984 Words

Attention: CIO Synergy Sol Peter Pan RE: Database Performance Proposal Dear Mr Pan, We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide a proposed solution to the current database performance issues Synergy Sol is experiencing. As we have discussed in previous correspondence, this letter is to provide our terms of engagement. Please contact this office if you require further clarification. The scope of the proposed Synergy Sol project is to provide the following: †¢ Determining the database baseline †¢ Analysis of current system performance †¢ Increasing RAM for 150 workstations †¢ Un-loading and re-loading the copied CRIM database †¢ Reorganisation of SQL Indexes †¢ Partitioning of database across multiple spindles †¢ Establishing SQL†¦show more content†¦Once you are satisfied with the terms of our engagement, please sign and date the attached quote and terms of agreement. We thank you for the opportunity to provide you with our quality service and look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours Sincerely, Eden Knight. Part I - CRIM Workflow Scenario In order to begin solving the current database performance problems, a database baseline should be created in order to identify a starting ground in which to be improved. This can compare database performance degradation, as well as capture baseline data, and specify and preserve a pair or range of snapshots as a baseline. Once this baseline has been determined, it will be possible to analyze whether or not the performance of the system has improved or decreased, and what type of impact has been created from the implementation of new processes and new hardware and software. This will also be important for planning future and unforeseen circumstances. Input/Output contention appears to be a major problem within Synergy Sol and the accessing of Microsoft Outlook, as well as saving Microsoft Word documents. Performance degradation occurs in instances of heavy workloads where there are a high number of reads and writes within a disk or virtual machine, causing latency and blockages. Frequently accessed files on the same disk will increase the risk of
