Part I - CRIM Workflow Scenario In order to begin solving the current database performance problems, a database baseline should be created in order to identify a starting ground in which to be improved. This can compare database performance degradation, as well as capture baseline data, and specify and preserve a pair or range of snapshots as a baseline. Once this baseline has been determined, it will be possible to analyze whether or not the performance of the system has improved or decreased, and what type of impact has been created from the implementation of new processes and new hardware and software. This will also be important for planning future and unforeseen circumstances. Input/Output contention appears to be a major problem within Synergy Sol and the accessing of Microsoft Outlook, as well as saving Microsoft Word documents. Performance degradation occurs in instances of heavy workloads where there are a high number of reads and writes within a disk or virtual machine, causing latency and blockages.
